Duty Payments (6/19/01)

We hereby wish to notify you of the following customs procedural change. If an entry is submitted without proper payment, it will be rejected and placed in unfiled status. In the past filers were given 48 hours to correct any problem, which is no longer the case. We would like to stress the importance in complying with this new policy in order to avoid penalties in the future. If you presently pay your customs fees via check, we suggest you consider using alternative mehods to help eliminate the inherant risks involved with paper checks. It also cannot be stressed enough, that if we recieve a check prior to the tenth day, we will have time to try and correct the problem. Where as if payment is recieved on the tenth day, it will be impossible to make necessary corrections.
