Why is compliance important to your company?
In 1993 the U.S. Customs Modernization Act (MOD ACT) was passed. The passage of these new regulations
has had a significant impact on importers and exporters. A much greater burden has been placed on
the importer in the areas of informed compliance, and record keeping. Increasing numbers of importers
are being audited and finding that they have not been in compliance with customs regulations in the past.
Now it is your responsibility to be prepared; non-compliance with these regulations can lead to fines and
penalties that can reach as much as $10,000 per entry. Finding, correcting, and reporting these problems
before Customs does, illustrates the use of proper care, and helps to protect against penalties. Our
experienced staff is led by licensed customs brokers, and has customs attorneys on retainer.
